Stateline Classic thanks YOU.

I would like to take the time to give a heartfelt thank you to everybody who attended the Stateline Classic and supported my first tournament as a PDGA Official. It may have been over-ambitious to attempt to run a B Tier, and I was definitely running around like a chicken with its head cut off on Saturday morning. I know I was trying to do too much early on. But, in the end... it seemed like everybody had a great time.

Thanks first to

all of the competitors who attended, and supported me. Thank you for your thoughts in light of the massive hit I took to my bank account when my sponsor backed out two weeks ago. Thank you specifically to: Rooster, Ziggy, and Ron Shufelt - all of whom decided to donate a share of their winnings back to me. Their generosity has been noted and I am incredibly grateful! The disc golf community is absolutely amazing, and I can't express enough how amazing it felt to gather together what golfers we managed to get here in Toledo for the event.

The second thanks goes out to the host for the players party and awards ceremony: DiSimone's Clubhouse - at first glance a few guys thought it was a bit of a dive, and it ain't a pretty place. But the pizzas we ordered were amazing. We had 20+ at the Players Party taking advantage of the beer selection, and ordering pizza. Word got out and at the awards ceremony we packed in over 30 of the competitors! Many of whom hung around for hours and ate pizzas and drank beer and enjoyed the atmosphere! The owner of the establishment, Ray, said that we were one of the most enjoyable and unique groups of people he's had in the bar and he was grateful for not only the business but the positive attitudes and great behavior of the golfers that attended!

Except for Ziggy, who despite being one of the only non-drinkers, managed to shatter a glass. Slow golf clap for you, Ziggy.

Thanks also to Mark Kruse, my vendor for the event. He took a lot of personal time to make certain that I was ready for this event. He helped me get everything in order, he made sure I was completely ready, had directions between courses, scorecards in a sufficient quantity, etc. etc. Without his efforts as a vendor this event could NOT have run as smoothly as it did!

Congratulations to the following...
Open Pro - Ziggy Bierekoven! Thanks again for your generosity!
Advanced - Kyle Lehman
Intermediate - Scott O'Leary
Recreational - David Stoll
Women - Ann Araps

Amateur Nationals Qualifiers - Kyle Lehman and Alex Gilson! Both of whom are planning on taking advantage of their qualifying spots and playing in the tournament! I wish both of them the best and hope they tear it up and represent Toledo well!

Putting contest champion - Ryan Sitler, who also made a nice comeback to pull in 2nd place in the Advanced Division! He overcame a shenanigans filled tournament (although most of the shenanigans were directed at Rooster, who somehow took 2nd! Beating out Ziggy and myself, amongst others, WHA?!)

Cash CTP winner - Alex Gilson pulled in a nice lil $78.00 prize for the cash CTP at Vienna Park on Saturday! He promptly spent it on video games. Kids these days.

Special thanks to all of the people that traveled a long way to attend the event: Hank Foss of New York, Ryan Sitler Ann Araps and Eric Guindon of Athens, Ohio, Cris Lore of Pennsylvania, Ryan Gruber of Wisconsin, and JM Blakely of Columbus, Ohio... and everyone else who had a long drive to attend!

I am glad to have heard that people really enjoyed their time at the event. I was incredibly proud of the atmosphere we were able to create and despite my discouragement at the small number of people that were able to experience it I am very happy I was able to bring this crowd together for the event and I plan on doing it again in the future.
